Nothing beats getting home from a long day at the office and unwinding with our favourite junk food. Let’s be honest: we all have at least one cheat day where we binge on our favourite junk food in order to avoid being stuck in work mode. Here are some of the top junk food things that we can’t get enough of.
1. Pop Corn
How can popcorn be considered junk food when there are so many healthy options available, such as Skinny Skinny Pop, Buddha Bowl Himalayan Pink Organic Popcorn, and Angie’s Boom Chicka Pop Lightly Sweet Kettle Corn? These are the healthier varieties of popcorn, however the classic popcorn ideas are your standard junk food ideas. The possibilities are vast and wonderful, with Caramel Corn, Cinnamon Roll Popcorn, and, of course, conventional movie theatre butter popcorn.
2. Ice Cream
Yes, you read that correctly: Ice Cream is that one junk food that we’ve craved since we were kids, and I can’t say I blame us. Ice cream comes in a wide variety of flavours that satisfies our palates to a large extent. Ice Cream is an appealing pleasure with to taste combinations like chocolate chip cookie dough, mint chip, and rocky row. Let’s not forget about Ice Cream & Cake, the world’s greatest ice cream combination. Your taste buds will be in a frenzy of delightful satisfaction and enjoyment as a result of this junk food combination.
3. Ramen Noodles
On a cold day, nothing beats a huge steaming bowl of Ramen noodles. Apart from the traditional method of making ramen with just water and a flavour packet, we have reached the age where we desire a unique flavour in our ramen. Add some new elements to your dish, such as chicken broth, BBQ pork, green onions, and bok choi, and don’t quit eating meat if you crave it. Fill your bowl with a variety of delectable seafood combos and sriracha sauce for a spicy kick.
When it comes to developing the best chip snack, potato chip makers have come a long way with innovative concepts. As a kid, I remember having simple chip ideas like nacho cheese Doritos and sour cream and onion ruffles. Now, chip producers have decided to take things to the next level with these new mind-blowing combinations. Simple Lays, for example, have evolved from standard to include concepts such as Korean hot crawfish, while Doritos now include sweet and spicy chilli. The more tastes you combine, the more delicious they become.
Chocolate is undoubtedly the most well-known treat in the world, and it’s appropriate for practically any occasion. Chocolate candy bars, pudding, cereal, cake, and ice cream all seem to be created to be that one irresistible pleasure that no one can resist. We’ve all heard the expression, “A little chocolate a day keeps the doctor away”!
6. Gummy Snacks
Gummy snacks meant you had it all when it came to being the centre of attention and getting the best snacks at school. Gummy snacks are so delicious and sweet that once you try one, you won’t be able to stop eating them. The boxes are devoid of preservatives and gluten, and most of these sugary treats have both natural and artificial flavours. The best thing about most gummy items is that they are easy to stow away under your desk or toss in your bag when you’re on the go.
When I first sampled Oreos, I swear I thought to myself, “Does the company that makes these cookies put cocaine in these cookies?” Because you consume an entire box of Oreos the first time you eat one. Oreos are like a miniature crispy cake with sweet dark chocolate wafers and a thick creamy filling in the middle. This dessert is extremely delicious when served with a glass of cold milk to wash it down. Oreos are great because they come in a variety of flavours, including mint, lemon, and peanut butter.
8. Hot Cheetos
Hot Cheetos are the snack for someone who almost worships Sriracha. Most people enjoy a little heat with their crunch, and you’ll want to grab something spicy to spice up that dining hall meal that starts to seem stale and monotonous after the first week or two. Takis and ethnic candy, among other hot sweets with the similar flavour as hot Cheetos, have a spicy rather than sweet flavour. Spicy foods are hard to come by, in my opinion, because not everyone can tolerate the heat.
9. Mac & Cheese
You might argue that this is a dinner rather than a snack, but why not break the rules a little? Its cheesy taste will help you unwind after a long day at work. I can’t think of a single person who doesn’t enjoy macaroni and cheese! It is the most flawless and gorgeous creation on the face of the planet. Most people crave it at any given time and in any situation when they are hungry. Whether you favour boxed mac and cheese or the one served in your dining hall, you can buy it almost anyplace. Try adding bacon for an even better mix. It’ll change the way you think about mac and cheese nirvana.
10. French Fries
Have you ever had to choose between a salad and French fries? How did you decide? With so many dips to select from, you’ll be more likely to choose potato as your daily vegetable. Consider this: a French fry is technically a vegetable, so if you skip yours for the day, you can be assured that you’ll be replacing it with another vegetable. That’s a win-win situation right there.
